SRH Captain Pat Cummins Favors Aggressive Approach Despite Defeat Vs RCB

Faf du Plessis, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore, must be a happy man as his team finally managed to register its second win in the ongoing IPL 2024 and it is also a moment of relief for fans who must have been tired to see their team losing matches on a trot.

Yesterday RCB played its 9th match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad and RCB won that match by 35 runs.

Rajat Patidar was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb batting performance.

The toss was won by RCB and it chose to bat first, the start was good as openers Virat Kohli (51 runs, 43 balls, 4 fours & 1 six) and Faf du Plessis (25 runs, 12 balls, 3 fours & 1 six) stitched a partnership of 48 runs in 4 overs and gave a platform to their team to make a big score. RCB posted a total of 206/7 on the scoreboard with the help of sensational knocks of Rajat Patidar (50 runs, 20 balls, 2 fours & 5 sixes) and Cameron Green (37 runs, 20 balls, 5 fours).

The SRH batting line-up never seemed comfortable against the RCB bowlers and the Hyderabad team could manage only 171/8 in the stipulated 20 overs.

While speaking at the post-match presentation, Pat Cummins, the skipper of SRH stated that it was not an ideal night for his team as first they gave extra runs while bowling and then they kept losing wickets regularly while batting. He added that they would have batted first as it seemed to work for them but before the last few wins, they used to think that they are the bowl-first team but things didn’t favor them in this scenario.

Talking about the defeat, he said that his players are playing really well, this is T20 cricket and the team is not going to win all the matches so there is nothing to think much.

Though SRH lost wickets at regular intervals, their batters still continued with their aggressive approach and when Pat Cummins was asked about it, he said that he feels it is their strong suit but it may not work in each match. He said that even in a couple of matches in which they didn’t get good start, they still managed to put up good totals on the scoreboard and he feels that it is the right way forward for the boys.

When Pat Cummins was asked as to how he will cheer up the guys, he said that when the team wins, he speaks to the team but when they lose, Daniel Vettori talks to the team.

While RCB still remains at the bottom of the points table, SRH is at the 3rd position with 5 wins in 8 matches.
