Made-In-India Honda Elevate/WR-V Bags Over 13,000 Bookings In Japan

Japanese carmaker Honda introduced its first proper compact global SUV, the Elevate, in the Indian market last year. Toward the end of 2023 the company announced that it will be introducing this Made in India SUV in its home turf, Japan. The company debuted this compact SUV in the Japanese market rebranded as the WR-V. Honda commenced with the sale of the WR-V in Japan on March 22nd 2024.

Now the company has bagged over 13,000 bookings for this SUV just in one month of commencing sales.

Honda WR-V (Elevate) has garnered over 13,000 bookings in the Japanese market in just one month since its launch. This compact SUV made its global debut first in India and then made its way to other international markets like South Africa & Japan.

Honda Japan must be overwhelmed with the initial traction generated by this SUV as the company was anticipating to sell about 3,000 units every month. The compact SUV segment globally and in India is dominated by Korean SUVs like Kia Seltos & Hyundai Creta, for long the market felt an absence of Japanese SUVs in this segment then the market got Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara which is also sold by Toyota as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, then the Honda Elevate/WR-V joined the party. Japanese cars are well known for their engineering, quality, durability, reliability and performance; the introduction of Japanese SUVs in this segment has surely spoiled the reign being enjoyed by their Korean counterparts.

The Honda Elevate/WR-V comes with old school SUV design & styling which radiates retro yet contemporary vibes. This SUV has a high ground clearance of 220 mm and it also features advanced safety features in the form of Honda Sensing. Honda offers this SUV with a 1.5 L naturally aspirated i-VTEC engine that produces 119.34 bhp and 145 Nm of torque.
