Delhi excise policy case: SC likely on pass order on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea on Friday

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court may pass an order on the interim bail plea of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 10, Justice Sanjiv Khanna said on Wednesday.

Justice Khanna said, "We will pronounce the interim order (on interim bail) on Friday. The main matter related to the challenge to arrest will also be taken on the same day."

In the last hearing on Tuesday, SC informed Kejriwal's lawyer that if it grants interim bail to the chief minister, it does not want him to perform official duties as it may lead to a conflict of interest.

Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was taken into custody on March 21 and is presently being held in Tihar Jail under judicial custody.

Last month, the Delhi high court concluded that material collected by the Enforcement Directorate revealed that Kejriwal allegedly conspired and was actively involved in use and concealment of proceeds of crime, after which the Delhi CM moved to the Supreme Court.
