No irregularity in dissolution of Maulana Azad Foundation: HC

NEW DELHI: Delhi high court on Tuesday upheld Centre's decision to dissolve Maulana Azad Education Foundation ( MAEF ), holding that govt is already carrying out welfare schemes for minorities.

"The decision to dissolve MAEF has been duly taken by the general body of MAEF and this court finds no impropriety or irregularity in the process.
It cannot be said that the interest of the minority communities for their educational and welfare development is being hampered in any manner," said a bench of acting chief justice Manmohan and justice Manmeet PS Arora.

Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, John Dayal, and Daya Singh filed a PIL challenging the closure of MAEF that was set up in 1989 to provide assistance to students belonging to educationally backward minorities.
