1 killed, 2 hurt while trying to overtake private bus

Aurangabad: A man was killed while two others sustained injuries when the two-wheeler they were travelling on hit the road divider while overtaking a private bus at 4 am on Thursday.

MIDC police said that the trio were on their way to Jalna from Padegaon area when they met with the accident near the Chikalthana Bazaar area.

After the accident, passers-by rushed to their rescue and also informed the MIDC police.

“One of the injured — identified as Raees Bokya, a criminal on record — managed to flee from the sport despite being injured. The remaining two, Shravan Namdeo Chavan (26) and Sanjay Shivaji Chavan (35), were taken to hospital by the police,” a police officer said.

“Shravan had sustained serious injury on his head and was unconscious when taken to the hospital. The doctors declared him dead on arrival. Sanjay, who survived the accident, told us that the trio, including Bokya, was travelling to Jalna for some work,” he added.

The officer said they are looking out for Bokya, who is wanted in some cases. “He might be getting treatment at some city hospital. We have alerted different police stations in the city to look out for the suspect,” the officer said.
