From Ric Flair's wedding in 2018
A full-time WWE star is on the road throughout a year, entertaining fans, away from their family most of the time. So, they miss a lot of family moments, and many cherished occasions, while putting on shows for us.
Yet, while they do everything to provide for their family, it can all take a heavy toll on their relationships. While domestic abuse and illegal steroid use have come between couples, many times the couple have played their role in each other's lives, and hence move on in search of happiness.
Some stars are lucky enough to have blissful relationships, while others have not been so lucky. Here, we present ten current and former WWE superstars who married thrice or more.
#10 The Undertaker
The Undertaker with his wife Former Divas Champion, Michelle McCool
80s and 90s kids believed with their heart and soul that The Undertaker was a dead man. Then, we grew up and the internet told us everything about Mark William Calaway, who played the character, and more importantly about pro wrestling. Basically, we lost an entire childhood of fantasy stories of him living in some graveyard.
As it turned out, The Undertaker is not supernatural. And, like normal people, he has fallen in love and has got married too. Not just once, but three times. Undertaker's first marriage was with Jodi Lynn, who he married in 1989. The couple stayed together for ten years before divorcing. Then, Mr. Calaway married Sara in 2000. He even got a tattoo of her name on his neck, but their marriage only lasted seven years.
Thereafter, the Deadman fell in love again and married WWE Diva Michelle McCool in 2010. The two have since stayed together.
#9 Jerry Lawler
Every WWE fan will recognise the voice of Jerry 'The King' Lawler, most notably for his memorable pairing with Jim Ross and his dark humor. The Hall of Famer has achieved a lot in the wrestling business, but outside of it, Lawler has had three broken marriages.
Lawler's first spouse was Kay Lawler, whom he married in 1971, but the couple divorced in 1978. Afterward, he married Paula Lawler in 1982, divorcing nine years later in 1991. His third marriage with Stacy Carter didn't last more than a couple of years.
In 2016, Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, were both arrested on charges of domestic abuse, with each party claiming that the other assaulted them. But, the charges were later dropped. And, things have been quiet since. It looks unlikely that Jerry Lawler will tie the knot for the 4th time, but we never know.
#8 Batista WWE and Hollywood Star has two grandchildren.
Batista is one of the few WWE stars who has carved a highly successful acting career for himself, most notably starring in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie franchises. He has had a troubled personal life, with lots of ups and downs, living most of his early childhood in poverty. He had seen murders, had stolen cars, been arrested. Things could have been much different for the Animal, but bodybuilding and then pro-wrestling saved him.
On the marital front, Batista has taken the vows thrice. First marrying Glenda Bautista in 1990. The couple divorced seven years later. Then, he exchanged vows with Angie Bautista in 1998; the relationship lasting eight years, divorcing in 2006.
Batista married Sarah Jade in 2015 and has been spending their lives together ever since. An interesting fact about Batista is that he already had two grandsons before he turned 40.
#7 Sable Sable is married to Brock Lesnar.
Sable is widely considered as the first true WWE Diva, appearing on the cover page of the Playboy magazine three times, and portraying a typical on-screen image of a WWE diva as was characteristic in the Attitude Era.
She had once a $110 million lawsuit against WWE, citing sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions. Vince McMahon counter-sued her, and both parties settled out of court.
On the marital front, Sable seems to be third time lucky. The diva's first marriage was with Wayne Richardson, whom she married in 1986. Their marriage, unfortunately, ended with Richardson's death in 1991. Then, she married Marc Mero in 1994. Marco was the one who brought Sable to WWE. However, the couple divorced in 2004 after spending ten years together.
Then, she married WWE's Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar in 2006, and the couple has been living together since. The couple has two sons, Turk and Duke.
#6 Goldust The Bizarre One, Goldust
Dustin Runnels has portrayed one of the most unique characters in pro-wrestling history. The Goldust character won Wrestling Observer Newsletter's worst gimmick in 1995, and yet he has made it work.
The Bizarre One, Goldust, has not only made the gimmick work but in doing so has also had a Hall of Fame worthy career, still entertaining fans with his unique character and solid wrestling skills. He is a nine time WWF Hardcore Champion.
Goldust married former WWE employee Terri Runnels in 1993, staying together for six years, before the couple’s divorce in 1999. Then, he married Milena Martelloni in 2002, but their marriage could only last for a short period of time, as they separated the following year, 2003.
Most recently, Goldust married Ta-rel Roche on June 22, 2012. Let's hope that third time's the charm for Goldust.
#5 Edge Edge and Beth Phoenix
Adam Joseph Copeland is called WWE's Rated-R Superstar for a good reason. He can be credited for some of the company's edgiest moments in the 00s, including a 'live-sex' segment with WWE Hall of Famer Lita. His cheating scandal with Lita and his feud with Matt Hardy have been well documented in the fans' memories.
A WWE Hall of Famer and a multi-time World Champion, Edge has been one of the most beloved superstars in WWE history. His personal life has not been any less exciting as well.
Edge first married Alannah Morley in 2000, but they divorced in 2004. Then he married Lisa Ortiz in October 2004, but this marriage fell apart when Edge's affair with Lita became public knowledge. The couple divorced in 2005.
Many years later, in 2016, Edge married WWE Hall of Famer and former Diva Beth Phoenix. The couple has two daughters, Lyric and Ruby.
#4 Bret Hart
Bret Hart has certainly had a roller-coaster ride in life.
Bret Hart has had one of the most talked about pro wrestling careers in history. The Hall of Famer has won championships wherever he has competed. Most notably, he is a five-time World Heavyweight Champion in WWE and its second Triple Crown Champion.
One of the greatest technical wrestlers ever in pro wrestling has had quite a ride in his personal life too.
Firstly, Hart married Julie Smadu in 1982, with whom he spent the next 20 years of his life, raising four children. They divorced in 2002, hours before he suffered a heart stroke. Then, he married an Italian, Cinzia Rota in 2004, a marriage that only lasted three years.
Afterwards, he married Stephanie Washington in 2010.
#3 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin
Steve Austin has seen 3 broken marriages.
The biggest star of the Attitude Era and one of the biggest WWE draws ever has had a roller coaster ride outside of the ring. In the wrestling business, Steve Austin has been considered by many to have surpassed Hulk Hogan in terms of star power and profitability. However, in his personal life, the Texas Rattlesnake has been quite controversial, including being arrested for domestic abuse.
Austin has been married four times, including one to former WWE Diva Debra Marshall who was his third wife.
Austin's first marriage was with Kathryn Burrhus. They married in 1990, but the marriage lasted two years, as the couple divorced in 1992. His second marriage with Jeanie Clarke (1992-'99) and third with Debra Marshall (2000-'03) didn't last long either.
Debra reported him for domestic abuse, for which he received a year's probation, a $1,000 fine, and ordered 80 hours of community service.
Austin married Kristin Feres in 2009, and the couple has been together ever since.
#2 Ricky Steamboat Ricky Steamboat was one of Flair's greatest opponents.
The WWE Hall of Famer and former Intercontinental Champion, Ricky Steamboat, aka, Richard Henry Blood Sr. became the legend he is primarily outside the WWE. He is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, also winning the US Championship four times in WCW.
The Dragon also won a number of Tag-Team championships during his illustrious wrestling career. He still had some great moments in WWE; his match against Randy Savage at WrestleMania III will never be forgotten. In fact, his matches against Ric Flair at a house show had a 10.25 rating in 1989.
A lesser known fact about him, is that he has been married five times. The Dragon first married Maureen Powers in 1977, but the couple divorced in 1980. Since then, he has been in a marital relationship with Debra Blood (1981-85), Bonny Hastings (1985-03), Claudia Sobieski (2004-12), and Sandi McAlister (2017-present).
#1 Ric Flair
The Ladies' Man has had quite a ride of life.
After successfully overcoming a near-death scare that left him in life support for ten days, two-time WWE Hall of Famer, Ric Flair walked down the aisle in September 2018, marrying girlfriend Wendy Barlow at The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach, Florida.
Flair's marriage was a star-studded affair, but it certainly wasn't his first, as the 16-time World Champion has now been married five times.
Flair has had quite a life both on and off screen, with many controversies. Flair's first marriage was to Leslie Goodman in 1971, divorcing her in ’83. His second marriage was with Elizabeth Harrell, which happened the same year as his divorce to Leslie; eventually lasting 23 years before the couple divorced in 2006.
The Nature Boy's subsequent marriages to fitness competitor, Tiffany VanDemark ('06-'09) and then, Jackie Beems ('09-'14) could only last three and five years respectively.
