12 held for making spurious liquor

Jhansi: As many as 12 persons including two women were arrested for manufacturing spurious liquor in Jhansi on Friday.

Seven cases of packed liquor, five litres of OP chemical, 20 litres of country-made liquor, 732 empty bottles, 8000 caps, 26 bar code stickers and a packing machine were recovered from their possession.



As per Jhansi SSP Dinesh Kumar, Raksa police raided a premises owned by one of the accused, Sumit Sahu, near Khati Baba temple on Punawli road.

All the 12 accused were found preparing spurious liquor and packing them in bottles. When interrogated, they revealed that they have been selling the liquor through licensed shops.

Those arrested were identified as Pradeep Rajpoot, Lal Singh, Prince Rai, Kapil Sahu, Mukesh Sahu, Akhilesh Sahu, Vikas Rai, Ravi Rai, Sunil Rai, Saroj Sahu and Shilpi Sahu.

All of them have been booked under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and Section 60, 62 of Excise Act.

As per SSP Kumar, four more persons wanted in this connection are on the run. Efforts are on to nab them.
