124 police station get more NDPS cases, says DGP

Bathinda: Punjab Police chief DGP Dinkar Gupta on Saturday said that state police had identified 124 police stations across the state where more cases of the NDPS Act had been registered and where more recoveries of drugs have been made in the past. He, however, denied that the drug abuse is rampant in the jurisdiction of these police stations.



The police would focus on such police stations and also in the border areas, he said, adding that drugs would not be allowed to be distributed in the elections at any cost.

He said that we have demanded 350 companies of paramilitary force for smooth and fair conduct of elections in Punjab. Some companies had already arrived and the rest were expected to arrive soon.

Continuing with the second day of his visiting various districts to hold meetings with police personnel, DGP Gupta on Saturday held meeting with police officers of Bathinda range comprising Bathinda, Muktsar, Mansa districts. Accompanied by ADGPs Ishwar Singh, Gurpreet Kaur Deo, IGs M F Farooqui, Balkar Singh Sidhu, he said that there were various parameters to check the drugs in the jurisdiction of any police station and it was not only the drug abuse.
