13 booked for grabbing government land in Pilibhit

PILIBHIT: Days after two groups of alleged land mafias illegally occupied a land of the Indian postal department in Pilibhit city on Monday night, the senior superintendent of post offices of Bareilly division , PK Singh, and the assistant superintendent of post offices, Ajai Kumar Jain, have filed separate FIRs and sought stringent action against them.




The police have booked 13 people in the matter under nine different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to the complaint filed the officials on Tuesday, the land, which is stretched over 407.65 square meters, the accused prepared fraudulent documents of the land in their names and sold the land twice to different buyers.

Jain stated in the FIR that on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, the accused had demolished the wall and gate, tempered with the lock, and stole building material from the campus. They made unauthorized possession on the government of India’s land, Jain said.

According to the compliant, the first fraudulent sale was executed by Umesh Singh of village Bithaura Khurd and his accomplices while the property was sold out for the second time by Yogendra Singh of the same village and others.

SHO of Pilibhit police station Ajab Singh said FIR has been lodged against 13 accused under sections 147, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 379, 447 and 120-B of the IPC, sections 3, 4 of prevention of Damage To Public Property Act and sections 4,10 of the Uttar Pradesh Protection of Trees in Rural and Hill Areas Act,1976.
