13 govt hosps get quality certificate

Thiruvananthapuram: Thirteen more government hospitals in the state have received National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification, said health minister K K Shailaja here on Wednesday.

With this, a total of 55 hospitals in the government sector in the state have received the certification by the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

A total of 10 more are awaiting a national-level inspection, the minister said.

“Kerala has also secured the first 12 spots among the best PHCs (primary health centres) in the country,” she said.

The 13 hospitals that acquired NQAS are Poothadi FHC, Wayanad (97%); Thamarassery taluk hospital, Kozhikode (93.6%); Thillankery FHC, Kannur (93%); Kathiroor FHC, Kannur (93%); Payippara FHC, Ernakulam (92%); Velliyanoor FHC, Kottayam (92%); Kallunira UPHC, Kozhikode (90.6%); Kottappady FHC, Ernakulam (90%); Mullayeriya FHC, Kasaragod (90%); Koovodu UPHC (88.9%),Kannur; Idachery FHC, Kozhikode (88%); Kumarakom CHC, Kottayam (85%); and Pandikkadu FHC, Malappuram (84%). tnn
