150 kg of duplicate ghee seized from godown

Officials of the Ahmedabad crime branch on Tuesday raided a closed godown near Chamanpura Circle, Asarwa, and seized duplicate ghee as well as automatic machinery which was used to package this ghee in the name of popular brands. According to cops, ghee made of palmolein and vegetable ghee was packaged in duplicate Amul packets.

They seized 150 kg of such ghee, equipment to manufacture ghee, packaging and other items from the godown at Sumel Business Park-5. The total worth of the seizure was Rs 3.48 lakh. The ghee was allegedly treated with chemicals to make it taste and look real. The godown also had duplicate logos, batch numbers besides pouches of duplicate Amul ghee. A complaint was filed by Ikchhanshu Vishen, assistant manager, GCMMF, which markets Amul)who was involved in the raid.The complaint has been filed against Ramesh Sankhla, resident of Banaskantha, and his partner Nemaji Mali., resident of Deesa who has hired the premises since November 2018.

Investigating officer PSI Korot said, "The labour staff working at the godown was there until the last moment but slipped off just before the police reached there."
