1.75L young voters in 49 civic bodies

Jaipur: As the polls to elect the ward members to the 49 urban local bodies are going to be held on November 16, it has been observed that the number of voters in the age-group 18-20 is the lowest, at 1.75 lakh, in these municipal bodies. Among all the civic bodies, Nasirabad municipal board has the lowest number of youth or first-time voters, at 56.

Bikaner has the highest number of such voters, at 24,611.

Among others, the number of voters belonging to the age-group 21-40 is the highest in these civic bodies at 15.92 lakh, followed by the voters belonging to the age-group 41-60 at 10.71 lakh. The number of voters belonging to the age-group 60 and above, in these 49 municipal bodies, are 4.67 lakh.

Meanwhile, 2,956 candidates filed 3,557 nomination papers on Monday, the third day of filing nominations to elect the ward members to the 49 urban local bodies, taking the total number of candidates to 3,230 and the nominations filed to 3,891.

The highest number of nominations was filed at the Bharatpur Nagar Nigam, at 293, followed by 230 at Makrana Nagar Parishad and 180 nominations at Ganganagar Nagar Parishad.

The last date of filing of nomination papers is November 5 and the polling will be held on November 16 from 7am to 5pm. The results will be declared on November 19. The nomination papers will be examined on November 6, while candidates will be able to withdraw their names till November 8. On November 9, the candidates will be allotted election symbols.
