2 special trains to Bihar daily from June 1

Ranchi: Railways will operate two daily trains between Jharkhand and Bihar from June 1, officials said on Thursday, a day after the railways said it will run 100 pairs of non-AC special trains over and above the Shramik specials and 15 special Rajdhani Express made operational earlier this month.

A Jan Shatabdi Express will operate between Patna and Ranchi stations and an express between Tatanagar station in Jamshedpur and Danapur in Bihar will start from the beginning of next month.

Both trains will operate daily, officials of Ranchi and Chakradharpur divisions of South Eastern Railways said.

Besides the two trains originating and terminating from Jharkhand, three special trains originating from West Bengal and Odisha will have stoppages in Tatanagar. These include the New Delhi-Puri Purushottam Express, the Howrah-CST Mumbai Mail and Howrah-Ahmedabad Express, the officials said.

Manish Kumar Pathak, senior divisional commercial manager of Chakradharpur railway division, said: “Bookings are being done only through the IRCTC website. Passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the station premises. Only asymptomatic passengers will be cleared to board the trains after screening through thermal guns.”

Niraj Kumar, chief public relations officer of Ranchi division, said: “Advance bookings of 30 days are being allowed. The response has been good so far.”
