2 surveyors held for demanding bribe for giving good rating to Moradabad railway station

Lucknow: In a case reported from Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, two male surveyors were arrested by the Railway Police at the city's railway station for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a railway staff in exchange for giving the station a good rank.

The accused were identified as Rohit and Vinayak, who are employed with a private firm and the Quality Council of India (QCI) has outsourced the job to this private firm for conducting surveys related to cleanliness and passenger services at 12 railway stations in Moradabad range.

A news agency reported after the Chief Commercial Inspector (CMI) Jitendra Singh filed a complaint with the Railway Police, narrating the incident after which the duo has been taken into custody. The complainant alleged that the two surveyors had demanded Rs 10,000 each after collecting feedback from 250 passengers at the Moradabad Railway Station. 

 

 

The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, Singh further alleged that the money was demanded from him in return for giving a good ranking to the station. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Railway) Morabadab, Pramod Kumar Tiwari said that a case has been registered against the duo for involving in corrupt practices and further probe in the case is underway. However, on confronting, the surveyors have denied the allegations levelled against them. 

The Railway Board has tasked QCI with carrying out survey pertaining to cleanliness and passenger services at 700 railway stations across the country and the QCI has outsourced the work to a private firm, where the two accused were employed. 

Telangana: Cop caught taking bribe a day after winning 'Best constable' award

In another case for receiving bribe was reported from Telangana, where barely a day after receiving an award for being the best constable in his district, the police constable was caught red-handed while taking a bribe.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)  arrested the constable- P Thirupathi Reddy for taking the bribe of Rs 17,000 from a sand dealer in the Mahabubnagar district of Telangana. Reportedly, the constable was allegedly harassing the sand dealer, Mudavath Ramesh, by threatening to confiscate his tractor and demanded a bribe for leaving him. 

However, after Ramesh lodged a complaint with the anti-graft agency, they laid a trap and caught the constable red-handed, demanding a bribe. The constable was arrested and produced him in a special court for ACB cases.
