Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United) sealed seat share alliance on Sunday. Making the announcements, JD(U) state president Bashistha Narain Singh said that the BJP and JD(U) will contest on 17 seats each while Ram Vilas Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party will get 6 seats including Nawada parliamentary constituency.
JD(U) to contest from: Valmiki nagar, Sitamarhi, Jhanjharpur, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Kishanganj, Supaul, Munger, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Katihar, Gopalganj, Madhepura, Banka, Gaya, Karakat and Jehanabad.
BJP to contest from: Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran, West Champaran, Sasaram, Saran, Arrah, Buxar, Aurangabad, Sheohar, Ujiarpur and Maharajganj.
Lok Janshakti Party to contest from: Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagaria, Nawada and Jamui.
As per the media reports, the BJP has decided to replace Shatrughan Sinha by Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib. Sinha has been very critical of PM Narendra Modi and refers to the BJP government as "one-man show and the two-men army". The disgruntled actor-turned-politician represents Patna Sahib and has shared the stage with the opposition many times.
The saffron party has decided to field Giriraj Singh from Begusarai who is sitting MP from Nawada. The Nawada seat has been offered to Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party.
Meanwhile, Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janta Dal-led grand alliance is also likely to announce seat sharing today and as per the media reports, the RJD is likely to contest from 20 seats and Congress on 11 of the 40 Lok Sabha seats.
