235 suspected cases traced in Prayagraj after 4-day survey

Prayagraj: A four-day door-to-door survey helped health department officials trace 235 suspected Covid-19 patients in 12 localities on the city. The survey was launched on August 2 and the localities covered under the campaign were Daraganj, Allahapur, Mutthiganj, Kydganj, Nayapurwa, Attarsuiya, Kareli, Karela Bagh, Teliyarganj, Rajapur, Mumfordganj and Old Katra.

Nodal officer of the door-to-door survey Dr Satyendra Kumar Rai said, “The officials were able to trace 235 suspected patients. The swab samples of 165 of them have been collected for testing. The samples of the remaining 70 would be collected in a day or two.” The survey was kicked off days after the number of Covid-19 cases in the city crossed the 3,000-mark. “During the four-day drive, 174 teams of healthcare workers visited over 55,000 houses and screened over one lakh residents,” he added.

Rai said that the survey helped health officials screen potential cases in localities where the maximum number of patients were diagnosed in the past 15 days in Prayagraj.

As the number of Covid -19 cases in the city continues to rise, so is the number of containment zones. The figure has crossed the 3,400-mark.

The number of containment zones in Prayagraj is around 200% of the combined figure for Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Fatehpur — which are the remaining three districts in Prayagraj range.

An analysis of health department data shows that the trend has been changing and an equal number of Covid-19 cases are being detected both in the city as well as trans-Ganga and trans-Yamuna areas. However, there are more containment zones in urban localities of the city as compared to rural ones.

A senior health official said, “A similar survey would be conducted soon to trace primary and secondary contacts of Covid-19 patients.”
