26 booked, 5 held after group clash leaves two injured in UP's Mainpuri

AGRA: As many as 26 people were booked for attempt to murder and various other sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a clash between two groups over a land dispute left at least two men injured, one of them seriously, in Mainpuri’s Dhundpur village. Five persons from both the sides have been arrested.


The clash took place on Tuesday between two groups led by Arjun Singh and Karanpal Singh.

The injured-- Naresh and Sonu-- were admitted to Safai hospital, where the condition of the former was serious.

In the cross complaints filed by the warring sides, police registered two FIRs and booked 26 people from both the sides. They were booked under section 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide ), 307 (attempt to murder), 452 (house trespass after making preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of IPC.

Station house officer of Kurra police station, Rishi Kumar, said, “Five of the suspects have been arrested. Others will be arrested soon.”
