29 cattle rescued at Nelyadi; 1 held

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district police have rescued 29 heads of cattle , which were being transported in a truck, and one person has been arrested in this connection at Nelyadi , said police.

On Tuesday morning, police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a truck coming from Hassan to Mangaluru.

Police, who stopped the truck near Nelyadi, while checking the vehicle, found that 29 buffaloes were being transported in the truck without any proper documents.

They arrested Imran Pasha, a resident of Arsikere, in this connection. Three others who were in the truck managed to escape from the spot.

Police seized the truck. A case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station in this regard.
