3 Dalits Thrashed, Stripped Over Alleged Theft in UP's Jaunpur

In an alarming incident, three Dalit youths in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur were stripped and thrashed in public for allegedly attempting theft at a local Seva Kendra in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur on Saturday, 6 July night.

There are varying media reports doing the rounds as to where the three youths were attempting the theft. Some say they were robbing a stationery shop, while others say they were trying to steal from a local mobile store. 

However, Jaunpur SP Vipin Kumar Mishra said that the three were attempting to break in to a Union Bank branch, ANI reported.

From what can be seen in the video, the three men were made to strip and then beaten up by the villagers.

A Times Now report says that two of the men were caught red-handed while attempting to break-in, while one was picked up from his house.

SP Mishra, in a statement to ANI, said that the three men have been detained for questioning. He further said that action will be taken against those who thrashed the three youths.
