3 killed, 12 hurt in van-truck collision in Bikaner

Three devotees returning from a temple were killed and a dozen injured after their pick-up van collided with a truck in Bikaner district on Sunday. The accident occurred on Sri Ganganagar-Bikaner national highway in Rajiyasar area, SHO Suresh Kaswan said. He said the devotees were returning to their homes in Goluwala of Hanumangarh district after offering prayers at Punrasar Hanuman Temple here.

The injured were rushed to a hospital in Suratgarh, the SHO said, adding that the deceased are yet to be identified. PTI

Save the girl child road show: A Suhasini road show was held on ‘Girlforce: Unscripted and unstoppable’ at Albert Hall to spread the message to save the girl child (beti bachao beti padhao) on Sunday. In the event, issues such as female foeticide, infanticide, gender biasness, ceased rights and all other atrocities against women were highlighted. The event was organised to mark the International Day of the Girl Child 2019.

Curfew relaxation in Malpura: Curfew will be relaxed from 7am to 5pm at Malpura town in Tonk district on Monday. Curfew was imposed after clashes broke out during Dusserha procession on Tuesday night. Reserved companies of the state police were deployed to control the situation.

Mega road safety campaign: Rajasthan police will announce a road safety campaign across the state on Monday. The 10-day campaign will be conducted in almost every district where awareness camps and drive to make people abiding traffic rules would be followed. DGP Bhupendra Singh said every range IGs, commissioner of police have been intimated to organise the campaign.

Minor girl lodges rape complaint: A minor girl in Itawa town of Kota district on Sunday reached the local police station and lodged a case of rape against a youth. Police booked the youth under sections of POCSO Act and IPC and launched a probe into the matter. The youth, however, was yet to be arrested. The victim in her complaint alleged that the accused youth broke into her room on the night of June 1 and raped her by chocking her mouth. The minor further alleged the accused later repeated the same crime for 2-3 times and threatened her not to disclose it to anyone else in the family and claimed when she found herself unable to bear the threat and sexual harassment, she gathered her courage and approached the police station to lodge a case against the accused, the SHO said. Cops booked Manish Bairwa under section 376 and 456 of IPC and section 3,4 of POCSO Act. The victim has been sent for medical examination while the accused in the matter is yet to be arrested.

Labourer buried alive: A 30-year-old labourer Shahidul Hasan died was buried alive when sand caved in at Jaipuria Hospital on Sunday afternoon. He was rushed to the hospital after being rescued. The doctors declared him dead on arrival.
