30-yr-old woman killed, husband, in-laws booked

GURUGRAM: A 30-year-old woman was strangled to death in Sohna on Thursday. Her family has allleged that she was killed by her husband and in-laws over a property dispute. Cops have registered a case of murder against her husband, brother-in-law and mother-in-law.

Kripa got married to Sunder in 2006 and the couple had four children.

However, trouble started soon after the wedding. Sunder, an alcoholic, allegedly physically and verbally abused his wife.

Around five years ago, Sunder’s father Jeet Ram sold off a piece of agricultural land measuring an acre and the couple did not get any money from it. Whenever Kripa would ask for their share, Sunder along with his mother Shakuntala Devi and brother Sattan would beat and abuse her, her family has alleged. Sunder had allegedly thrashed Kripa in the presence of her mother Gangawati around a month ago.

According to the complaint filed by Kripa’s brother Joginder, Sunder called their brother Virender on Thursday and asked him to reach his house to discuss a matter. But when the brothers reached Harchandpur village in Sohna, they found Kripa’s body on the bed in her room.

Kripa’s eldest child —her 11-year-old daughter Sonia — told her uncles that Sunder had beaten up Kripa late on Wednesday night, and that later he and his family murdered her.

Based on the complaint of Kripa’s kin, cops have registered an FIR under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC against Sunder, Sattan and Shakuntala Devi.
