4 pilgrims killed in Barwani as jeep hits bus

Barwani: Four pilgrims were killed and nine injured when a jeep they were travelling in collided head-on with a private bus on Khetia-Sendwa highway under Niwali police station limits of Barwani district on Sunday morning.

The pilgrims were on their way from Ambada village in Dhar district to Toranmal located on Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra border when the accident took place, Rajpur sub-divisional officer (police) DS Baghel told TOI.



As the jeep approached Khadikham Ghat, around 60 km from Barwani district headquarters, the driver lost control and the vehicle collided head-on with a passenger bus, Baghel said

Passing motorists and locals immediately rushed to the spot to help the victims. Four pilgrims — 35-year-old Narayan Patidar, Antim Thakur (35), Vijay Patidar (40) and Suresh (40) were killed on the spot. The victims were taken to Niwali Hospital while the critically injured were later shifted to district hospital.
