480 liquor bottles, raw material & heroin seized in Patiala

PATIALA: A day after interstate police held a meeting to curb illegal liquor during elections and increased the checkpoints in the district, the police had got a success to seize 617 bottles of illegal liquor beside recovering 880 liters of raw material used for preparation of country-made liquor.

The Patiala police under an ASI Iqbal Singh and other cops recovered 480 country-made liquor bottles having labels of Haryana .

The police nabbed one of the two accused near Dabhlan village checkpoint while another managed to escape. The case under section of the Excise act was registered against them.

In another case the police seized 36 bottles of country-made liquor from a Raungla village near Tripuri area. The police conducted a raid on a tip off and nabbed a woman in the village who was selling country-made liquor.

The Samana police in a raid recovered 600 liters of the raw material of liquor from a house in the Sodhowal village while the Samana Police in another case nabbed a person for illegally making country-made liquor at his house in Morori village. The police recovered 200 liters of raw material from the accused besides recovering 20 bottles.

Drugs seized

The police here have arrested two persons under sections od NDPS act after recovering 25 gram of heroin from the possession of accused identified as Manjinder Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib and Sukhdev Singh.

Manjinder was arrested with 15 gram of heroin while Sukhdev Singh was nabbed with 10 gram of heroin. The accused were stopped and frisked near a Dhabha in Rajpura town of the district and heroin was recovered from them.
