5-yr-old hurt grievously in accident at Mapusa

SALIGAO: A five-year-old boy, Ladoo Kale, a native of Lathur residing in the slums at Mapusa, was grievously injured in a road accident at Mapusa on Tuesday afternoon .


Ironically, the driver of the four-wheeler was trying to avoid colliding into two other children on the road when the accident occurred.



According to Mapusa police, four slum dwelling children were crossing the road near the Carvalho petrol pump when they saw the four-wheeler which was headed to Mapusa. Two of the children got nervous seeing the oncoming vehicle and when the driver, Nilesh Hodarkar, veered to avoid hitting them, he rammed into the five-year-old.

The injured boy was rushed to the North Goa District Hospital at Mapusa for treatment. He was later shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for further treatment.

Mapusa police conducted a panchanaman and have registered an accident case against Hodarkar. Head constable Ricky Fernandes is further investigating the case.
