54 migrants leave for home-state Uttar Pradesh from Mansa

As many as 54 migrants were left for their native state Uttar Pradesh from Nehru Memorial Government College in Mansa on Thursday. The migrants, who were ferried to  Ferozepur on PRTC buses from Mansa will board the train to Uttar Pradesh from Railway Station Ferozepur.The train, which was expected to depart from Ferozepur Railway  Station at 7 pm on a Thursday evening will ferry passengers belonging to six districts of Uttar Pradesh including Kanpur Urban, Kanpur Rural, Aurayiya, Etawah, Farukhabad and  Kanauj.Assistant Commissioner Navdeep Kumar said that following the directions from the Deputy Commissioner Mansa Gurpal Singh Chahal, the district administration has  ensured smooth running of buses, which departed with 54 migrants to Ferozepur.He said that a total of 144 migrants had registered themselves for these six districts in Uttar  Pradesh of which only 54 have left for their home state while remaining dropped their plan apparently after they started getting employment from their employers as the Punjab  Government has given permission to run industries, factories and other businesses amid the ongoing curfew in wake of the COVID-19.

The buses carried passengers from  Sardulgarh and Budhlada under the supervision of the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) including Rajpal Singh and Aaditya Dachalwal and gathered at Nehru  Memorial Government College Mansa from where buses were departed for Ferozepur under the supervision of SDM Mansa Sarabjeet Kaur.SDM Sarabjeet Kaur said that the  district administration had ensured medical screening of all the migrants before sending to their home states and all the migrants were provided refreshment by the  officials.Meanwhile, Migrants had expressed their gratitude to the Punjab Government and the District Administration for sending them back to their homes.
