550th Parkash Purab celebrations: 45,000 saplings planted in villages of Barnala district : Deputy Commissioner

Plantation drive is going on in full swing in Barnala district to commemorate the 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji as more than 45,000 saplings have been planted in almost 90 villages. While disclosing more information about the drive, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr. Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that the process of plantation of 550 saplings in each village of the district would be completed soon.

He added that as many as 25,000 saplings have also been planted on the sides of link roads under the MGNREGA. DC said that the forest department has also planted around 35,000 saplings out of the total target of 70,000.Mr. Phoolka said, “Under Mission Tandarust Punjab, administrative authorities have been regularly motivating people for maximum plantation and environment conservation. District residents could also avail free saplings through i-Hariyali App and till now around 10,000 native plants have been provided through this App in the district.” DC said that along with the plantation drive, the administrative officials and district residents were being sensitized for care of plants to ensure proper growth of saplings.
He said that this plantation would help in controlling the environmental pollution and it would also help in controlling the problem of underground water depletion. Mr. Phoolka also urged the people especially the youth to step forward for the maximum plantation and also to motivate people for plantation and care of the plants.
