Among the six casualties reported on Saturday, four are from East Singhbhum district and one each from Koderma and Godda. The casualties in East Singhbhum and Godda had comorbidities, said a health department official . In Koderma, a 59-year-old man from Tilaiya died soon after he was brought to hospital with breathlessness on Friday. His samples tested positive on Saturday, a doctor at Koderma district hospital said.

In Ranchi, personnel of India Reserve Battalion (IRB) misbehaved with a senior nurse at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences after one of their colleagues died on Saturday afternoon. Hospital sources said soon after the Rims administration informed the family members about the death of the 35-year-old, his family members and 20-odd IRB personnel arrived at Rims Covid block and demanded the body be handed over to them immediately.

After on-duty nurse Ramrekha Rai informed them about the protocols, they misbehaved with her. She said, “I told them that I will be providing PPEs for the family members who need to take part in the cremation ceremony, which is done under supervision of the administration officials as per protocol. They weren’t ready to listen and misbehaved with a senior nursing staff,” said an on duty nurse.

The impasse was broken only after sadar DSP Deepak Pandey reached Rims and arranged for the shifting of the body to a crematorium. “I have spoken to both the parties and the matter has been resolved. We sent the body for cremation as per protocols,” said Pandey.
