915 new infections, 3 deaths in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Jharkhand reported three Covid-19 casualties and the state’s biggest single-day spike in new infections with 915 fresh cases in 24 hours until 10pm on Friday. The figures include one casualty and 89 infection recorded in East Singhbhum around midnight on Thursday

With 826 of 7,805 samples returning positive, the positive rate recorded a steep increase to 10.58%.

The recovery rate also took a hit and fell by over 25% in comparison to national average and stood at 38.12% (national rate is 64.43% ).

Among the two deaths reported on Friday, one each was reported from state capital Ranchi and from Chatra. “Both patients who died were above 55 years of age and were suffering from co-morbidities,” said a health department official.

Giridih (154 cases) and Deoghar (131) reported their biggest single day spike. State capital Ranchi reported 83, East Singhbhum (70) Chatra (46), Koderma (43) and Dumka (41) were among districts with highest number of new cases.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Jharkhand now stands at 11,314, of which 6,865 are active, 4,343 have recovered and 106 have succumbed to the infection.
