97 students from Madurai attend NEET coaching

MADURAI: A total of 97 students from government and government-aided schools in Madurai district , who enrolled for the special residential coaching programme for the national eligibility-cum-entrance test for MBBS admissions, attended the first day’s classes on Monday, according to the district education department.




The programme is organized by the state government at 11 centres across the state. Since there’s no designated centre in Madurai district, candidates enrolled for the programmes conducted at National Engineering College at Kovilpatti in Tuticorin district and Kala Pandian Polytechnic College at Sillamarathupatti near Bodinayakanur in Theni district, MCC higher secondary school in Chennai and Sai Speed Medical Institute at Mangadu in Kanchipuram district .

This would be a 40-day programme and the students, apart from free coaching, would also be provided accommodation and food. Among the four centres, those in Kovilpatti and Chennai would be training the NEET candidates who would be taking the test in English, while the Sillamarathupatti and Mangadu centres would train the candidates for taking the test in Tamil. Among the 97 students, 83 are attending the Tamil coaching, while the remaining 14 are attending the English coaching classes.
