A dog's day all the way in Lucknow

Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Miniature Pinchers, Rampur Hound and various other breeds of dogs participated in the 83rd, 84th & 85th Championship dog show, organized by the Oudh Kennel Club in the city, recently. Nearly dogs from all across the country participated in the two-day show held at the Reserve Police Lines in Mahanagar.

Judged by T Preetham, Radzuik Sviattana and Tatasiana, who came all the way from Belarus with Gauri Nagalkor, the pooches put their best foot forward at the Labrador, Rottweiler and German Shepherd speciality show.

KK Trivedi, Vice Chairman Kennel Club of India (KCI) and CV Sudarshan, Secretary of KCI, who came from Chennai, especially for the show, graced the event which was ably managed by Shashank Trivedi, the show Secretary and Alop Ghosh. Satya Narayan Sabat, DIG, UP Police, who was the Chief Guest of the show, said, “There should be cohabitation in maintaining peace between pets and humans.’’

Even though the weather was hot and humid, the enthusiasm was at its peak with dogs barking, growling and some even running with their handlers screaming after them. A few of them decked up for the occasion too with hair bands, clips, ribbons, skirts, dressed, coats and even sun glasses in place and posing for the perfect shots. Some just put their nose in the air as they were preened by their owners and handlers in AC vehicles.

Taru Gupta, who came for the first time in a dog show, said ‘’It’s so great to see so many breeds of dogs at one place!” Enakshi Chandel, known for her Labrador Retrievers was seen handling her pets while Irshad Khan tended to his Rampur Hounds.
With winners being declared on both days, the first day winner was Luke the Labrador owned by Dinkar Pratap Singh, while the winner on day-two was Helada Hills Absolute a Cocker Spaniel who was declared as Best in Show, owned by Pallav Shah. The second best was Red American National Hero a Beagle owned by Palash Ghosh while German Shepherd Gas Di Casa Palombs owned by Lucknowite Siddharth Sharma stood third Best in Show.
