A new photography museum inaugurated in the city

On the occasion of the inauguration of a photography museum and an art gallery, several actors, artists and photographers and artists were present. The gallery was inaugurated by noted actress and Member of Parliament Mimi Chakraborty along with renowned filmmaker Goutam Ghose, in the presence of Suvro Chandra, Joint Managing Director, P C Chandra Gems Pvt.

Ltd in addition to senior photographers like Sunil Dutta , Arun Ganguly, Atanu Paul and many other photographers and distinguished guests.

On display in this gallery are works of some of the most celebrated and respected photographers in this country, including Sunil Janah, Raghu Rai, Raghubir Singh, T Nagarajan, Arun Ganguly, Sunil Dutta, Jyoti Bhat, Veena Bhargava , Prabuddha Dasgupta and youngsters like Jayanta Shaw, Atanu Paul, Dhritiman Mukherjee and many other.

“Even though we are surrounded by images in our modern life, yet Photography as an art form has been neglected for far too long. We thought it is high time we recognize the artistic value of photography. For a long time, we have been planning to set up a permanent gallery on Photography in our museum. I believe this is the first permanent exclusive gallery of photography within a museum in India,” said artist Shuvaprasanna .
