A repeat of assembly voting trend would see BJP lose 11 seats in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: BJP may lose more than 11 seats in Madhya Pradesh if there is no change in voting patterns witnessed in the 2018 assembly polls.

Congress which won only two out of 29 parliamentary seats is leading in 11 parliamentary constituencies if the votes polled by it in the assembly segments that constitute a parliamentary constituency are added.

BJP still seems to have an edge, wherein it seems have an upper hand in 18 parliamentary constituencies if there is a repeat of the same voting pattern.

Sample this, eight legislative assemblies—Sheopur, Vijaypur, Sabalgarh, Jaura, Sumaoli, Morena, Dimini and Ambah—constitute the Morena parliamentary constituency. BJP had won the 2014 parliamentary elections with a margin of 1.32 lakh votes in 2014 elections. But if the votes received by both BJP and Congress candidates cumulatively in these constituencies which constitute the parliamentary seat are taken into account, then Congress polled 1.26 lakh votes more than the BJP during the recently held assembly elections.

But all will not be well for Congress, if the voters chose the same party which they had voted in assembly elections. If the voters follow the same trend, then things could be different for senior leader, Jyotiraditya Scindia’s constituency. The Guna parliamentary constituency comprises of Shivpur, Pichhore, Kolaras, Bamori, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Chanderi and Mungaoli assembly constituencies and if the cumulative votes secured by both BJP and INC during 2018 assembly elections are taken into account then BJP had had polled 16,499 more votes than Congress.

Among the constituencies where Congress is leading over BJP, according to 2018 assembly results include Morena, Bhind, Gwalior , Tikamgarh, Shahdol, Mandla, Rajgarh, Dewas, Ratlam, Dhar and Betul. In two constituencies where Congress had won in 2014 elections, it continues to lead in Chhinwara, but BJP is leading in Guna as per the assembly election voting trends.
