Accused of theft, boy ends life

Hyderabad: Accused of theft , a 16-year-old boy committed suicide by setting himself ablaze at Maddur vilage in Mahabubnagar district on Tuesday. Following his death, family members of the teenager staged a protest and police booked an abetment to suicide case.

The boy, Tarun Goud, a class X student of Maddur village in Mahbubnagar, set himself ablaze at his house in Maddur on Monday afternoon when he was alone.

According to police, one Pradeep Reddy accused Tarun of stealing Rs 30,000 in cash on Sunday night. “He alleged the boy stole money from his parked car. He also said that when confronted, Tarun returned Rs 15,000 on Monday morning. Tarun’s family alleged that he committed suicide as Pradeep Reddy accused him of theft and even assaulted him,” the DSP said.
