In Rajasthan, the state government has decided to accelerate the process of construction of new medical colleges to be run under the society in seven districts and release additional funds for admission to 50 additional seats in five colleges.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said today that the total expected cost for these colleges is Rs 2441.89 crore while the central government has sanctioned Rs 1623 crore for this. A proposal for an additional amount of Rs 819.49 crore has been approved as the difference between this.

He informed that new medical colleges will be run under the Rajasthan Medical Society (Rajames) in Bhilwara, Bharatpur, Pali, Churu, Sikar, Barmer, and Dungarpur districts. In the first phase, a cost of Rs 189 crore was sanctioned per college for admission to 100 seats in these colleges, of which the central and state government has a share of 6:40. The Central Government has also approved an increase of Rs. 60 crore per college for the admission of 50 additional seats in each of these five medical colleges.

Shri Gehlot informed that the difference between the actual project amount and the total project amount based on the detailed work plan for all the seven new medical colleges, as well as 5 additional seats per college in Bhilwara, Bharatpur, Pali, Churu, and Dungarpur. It has been approved to bear a total of Rs. 819.49 crore including an increase in cost amount due to admission.

It is noteworthy that with this additional amount, repair, upgradation, and increase in beds will be done in the district hospitals affiliated to the seven new medical colleges. With the decision of the state government, the construction work of all the seven medical colleges will be accelerated and the colleges will be run smoothly with the admission of 95 seats including the increased 25 seats.
