After tiff with colleague, BU students attack ambulance
BHOPAL: Violence broke out on Barkatullah University (BU) campus on Thursday when a group of 40 students of engineering college attacked another student of the same college. BUIT director Prof Neeraj Gaur has informed the higher authorities about the incident.
The trouble started a couple of days ago when a BUIT student Sandy Antony had some differences with other students of the same college.
Police said Sandy is allegedly suffering from mental problem and is undergoing treatment. On Thursday, Sandy reached BUIT and challenged the students, who had allegedly threatened him. Thereafter, director Prof Gaur took him in his cabin and called up his father.
Sandy's father reached BU and and called an ambulance. While Sandy was going out of the campus along with his father in the ambulance, a group of students from BUIT attacked the ambulance. Eyewitnesses said that Sandy and his father were crying for help, but students were in no mood to spare them. “It was a horrible scene in front of the law department when the ambulance was attacked," said a student Prakash Sharma. Another student said the students broke the window of the ambulance. Students even attacked an employee of BU who was trying to ensure normalcy. Later, Sandy and his father were saved with the help of some other students.
