Agra mayor launches tri-colour LED streetlights project

AGRA: Agra mayor Naveen Jain on Wednesday launched Agra Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) tri-colour LED lighting project, under which, 883 streetlight poles are planned to be erected as a permanent feature along 10 busy road stretches across the city, with work already completed on MG Road. The project is expected to cost Rs 1.5 crore.

Mayor Jain said, “We have decided to celebrate the month of Independence by making the city look more beautiful. Major roads of the city will be decorated with tri-colour lights. High standards of cleanliness will also be ensured.”

Besides MG Road, the tri-colour LED strips will be fixed on lampposts at Sanjay Place, Khandari crossing, Paliwal Park, Victoria Park, Bijli Ghar crossing, Awas Vikas locality and Sikandra-Bodla road.

Apart from lights, AMC will also plant 12,000 saplings along major roads. “Planation will be carried out on the city’s traffic lifeline, MG Road, and three major roads in Sanjay Place and Paliwal Park, as well as Sikandra to Bodla crossing. This time, instead of iron fences for the trees, we’ve decided to erect brick guards,” he said.
