Air quality of 11 Haryana towns, cities 'severe'

KARNAL: The air quality index (AQI) of Haryana’s 11 cities and towns on Wednesday again reached the severe level — which means pollutants in the air are so high that could have an impact even on healthy people.

Hisar’s AQI was the worst, recorded at 476. It was followed by Bhiwani (471), Manesar (463), Gurgaon (447), Faridabad (446), Jind (445), Fatehabad (430), Sirsa (415) Rohtak (412), Panipat


(408), and Palwal (401). The AQI was in very poor category in Bahadurgarh (397), Narnaul (380), Karnal (316), Kaithal (313), Ballabgarh (327), Kurukshetra (321) and Ambala (298).

According to the CPCB, Hisar, air was more dangerous than national capital Delhi (456). On Monday, Hisar’s overall AQI was 359; it rose to 494 on Tuesday, reaching the “severe” level. Officials said they were expecting air to improve with change in weather conditions after November 15.
