Airport standard 5-star AC lounge at Bhagalpur railway station! See pics

New Delhi: Indian Railways is continuously working to offer better services to passengers. In an effort to offer premium facilities to railway passengers, the national transporter has been setting up premium AC lounges at stations. For the longest time railway passengers have complained about waiting rooms at stations and lack of modern facilities like AC, clean and comfortable sitting area, good food etc. 

In the last one year, railways have set up numerous airport-like AC lounges at several railway stations like Jaipur, Madurai, Patna etc. Recently Indian Railways opened a new AC premium lounge at Bhagalpur station. The stunning air-conditioned, premium lounge has been opened for passengers at the Bhagalpur Junction railway station in Bihar by the Eastern Railways (ER) zone. 

It may be noted that the ER zone commissioned the premium lounge on September 3, 2019. This lounge is also a part of Piyush Goyal-led Railways' drive to modernise railway stations and provide additional facilities, comfort to passengers. In fact, the Railway Ministry has redeveloped several stations and beautified several other railway stations across the country.

The lounge is built across an area of more than 1,100 square feet and is constructed on platform number one of the Bhagalpur station, for the easy access of passengers. The premium lounge boasts aesthetic roof ceiling, glossy tiled floor and wall finish, separate washrooms for men and women equipped with modern sanitary fittings.

With aesthetic lighting and painting on walls, the lounge gives a very calm and soothing vibe. The lounge also has plush couches, recliners as well as centre tables.

As per railways, passengers can avail the premium lounge facility at a nominal charge of Rs 30 and Rs 50 per hour for the sofa and recliner respectively. This is significant as railways will be providing luxury and comfort at railway stations at such affordable rates.

It is worth mentioning that this is the first-ever AC premium lounge in the Malda division of ER zone. Also, the Railway Ministry recently took another interesting step to give interesting makeover to Vikramshila Express at the Bhagalpur coaching depot. The coaches of the train were beautified with famous traditional Manjusha folk artwork of Bhagalpur. 

This has been done to not just beautify the train but to also promote the artwork by local Mithila artists across the national and international forum. With the folk art on its exterior body, the train looks vibrant, colourful and new.
