Ajit Jogi, first CM of Chhattisgarh, passes away at 74

Raipur: Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi died on Friday afternoon after suffering two cardiac arrests at a private hospital in Raipur. He passed away at the age of 74.

Ajit Jogi, who served as the first CM of Chhattisgarh, was admitted to Shri Narayana hospital in Raipur on May 9 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence and was in the hospital ever since.

His health remained critical since his first cardiac arrest and he spent time in hospital on ventilator support.

According to reports, Jogi's health further deteriorated on Wednesday night when he suffered a cardiac arrest and took his last breath at around 3.30 pm on Friday after suffering another cardiac arrest.

Dr Sunil Khemka, a senior doctor looking after Jogi said, “He suffered two heart attacks one after the other, and we tried to revive his heart activity for over two hours, but he was finally declared dead.”

His son Amit Jogi took to his official Twitter handle and confirmed the death of his father. He further announced that last rites of Ajit Jogi will be performed tomorrow in Gaurella, a town where he was born.
