Alappuzha collector had food with coastal govt school pupils

ALAPPUZHA: In order to understand the quality of the midday meal being served in schools, Alappuzha district collector Adeela Abdulla went to a government school and had lunch with the pupils.


The collector on Tuesday went to Valiazheekal Government Higher Secondary School , a school situated on the coastal belt of the district.

There were no boundaries for the happiness of the students when they came to know that the district collector has come to their class room and shared their meals talking life their friend.

The collector has approached the students and spoke to them like one of their classmates. She talked students about their school life, family matters and teaching and had lunch with them. Majority of the students were seeing a district collector first time in their life very close, so they did not know how to express their unexpected happiness. Though when the collector visited the school unexpectedly, there was a tension in the mind of teachers and headmistress. However, soon their tension turned into smile when the collector appreciated the teachers and headmistress for providing good education and good meals to the students. The collector after having lunch told the school authorities that it was mouthwatering food she had with the students.

According to Collector, she called at the school in order to ensure that the students are getting good quality education, better facilities and midday meals in the school. The collector visited class rooms, toilets, kitchen, and surroundings of the school. The collector informed about the pathetic condition of the toilet to the deputy director of education and instructed to take immediate steps to solve it. She has also asked the deputy director to file a report regarding the basic facilities the school need immediately. The collector said that she would continue her visit in more government schools and will ensure all the facilities for the students and teachers in the schools.
