Aligarh: BJP leaders force suspension, removal of cops for 'thrashing' lawmaker, video proves otherwise

Aligarh: In a sequence of events gone horribly wrong top officials of UP police suspended a Station Officer and transferred an SP rank police official in Aligarh after a complaint by the local BJP MLA Rajkumar Sahyog that the SO physically assaulted him.

After several BJP leaders including MPs & MLAs from Aligarh, Etah & Hathras complained to the Chief Minister, CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the matter and instructed top officials to take immediate action in the matter.

BJP workers too protested against the police, burned its effigy & demanded state action against cops backing up the ruling party MLA.

Station Officer of the Gonda police station Anuj Saini was finally suspended late on Wednesday evening for 'manhandling' the MLA while SP Rural Atul Sharma was transferred for not taking action in time.

The videos from an altercation between the MLA & SO, however, show the BJP MLA conceding on record that he physically attacked the Station Officer and also attempted to tear off his uniform because he thought the SO did not give him enough respect before the party workers.

These videos are now turning out to be a big embarrassment for the Yogi govt since action against the Aligarh cops was initiated at the highest level even before the IG level probe on the matter could be completed. Also that the ruling party leaders and workers created undue pressure on govt and members of the administration to take action against the SO & SP even though there was no evidence against them.
