Allahabad: 7-year-old kid recovered; kidnapper injured in encounter

ALLAHABAD: The crime branch and civil police teams on Tuesday night recovered the seven-year-old kid, Ranveer Singh, who had been kidnapped from the gymnasium of an eminent English medium school. The kidnapper, Sanjay Yadav, was a former driver of the kid’s father, Abhishek Singh of Allahapur locality.

According to Allahabad SSP Atul Sharma, the kidnapper was arrested after an encounter at Bhadhoi where his car, in which he had run away with the kid, was intercepted by the police.

“On spotting the chasing police, he fired at the police vehicle and in retaliation, one of the tyres of his car got punctured, but he kept driving on the punctured wheel for around 10 kilometre and when he finally stopped, he tried to flee and was injured after the police team fired at him,” said the SSP.

The kid is safe and the injured kidnapper was being rushed to the hospital for treatment.
