Allahabad: Two temporary police outposts to regulate Kanwariyas at Dashashwamedh ghat

ALLAHABAD: For better crowd and traffic management at Dashashwamedh ghat where turnout of Kanwariyas would be increasing in next few days during shrawan month , the city police on Thursday set up two temporary outposts including Jal police and civil police outposts . Scores of Kanwariyas would be arriving on Ganga ghats to take holy water.




DIG (Prayagraj range) K P Singh said, “Expecting a huge turnout of Kanwariyas over next few days, we have done barricading on Dashashwamedh and adjoining ghats”. He further added “This time, police authorities have also set up a river line for the convenience of Kanwariyas which would stop them from entering deep water”.

He further added a total of 14 swimmers have also been roped in to check drowning cases. Over 300 policemen have been deployed for better crowd and traffic management in and around ghats.

DIG, meanwhile, maintained that a team of senior police officials led by ADG ( Prayagraj zone) S N Sabat had Wednesday night conducted surprise inspection at Dashashwamedh ghat to check the police preparedness and found things in order.

ADG , however, instructed policemen on duty to be careful in regulating the crowd of Kanwariyas so that there would be no chaotic situation on ghats. Besides, a strict vigil should be maintained round the clock.

This time, the local administration has also set up a temporary road of chequered plates for the convenience of Kanwariyas.
