Ambala businessman's kin stage protest, demand arrest of accused

AMBALA: Body of deceased Mohit of Khatik Mandi in Ambala Cantonment was cremated here around 6pm, two days after his death.


The body was handed over to the family members on Tuesday, but they did not take it from the Ambala Cantonment Civil Hospital. They protested and demanded quick arrest of the accused involved in his murder.



On May 6, around 10.30pm, Mohit was stabbed by some identified accused while his brother Gaurav suffered injuries, who is currently undergoing treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh.

On Wednesday, the family members and residents of Khatik Mandi gathered at 12 Cross Road and held a protest march with placards in their hands. They said they would not cremate Mohit till the police did not arrest the accused.

Senior officials of the district police pacified the protestors with an assurance of acting as per the law and arresting the accused as soon as possible. On the complaint of Vishal Rajaura, Mohit’s cousin brother, of Khatik Mandi, the district police registered a case against eight identified accused.
