Ambala: Five killed, two injured in wall collapse in Ambala Cantt

Ambala: Five persons, including three minors, were died and two others injured after an old wall collapsed in Ambala Cantonment late night on Friday.

“An old wall collapsed near Football Chowk in Ambala Cantonment, killing and five persons — two adults and three minors. A minor girl and her mother were injured in the incident.

The victims used to live in a shanty near the old wall and were crushed when it came down,” said inspector Narender Singh, SHO, Ambala Cantonment police station.

He said they are recording the statements of the injured, who have been admitted in Ambala Cantonment civil hospital. Even the bodies have been taken to same hospital for postmortem. “So far, we have not received any complaint in this regard and further action will be taken as per the statement of the family members of the deceased,” the SHO added.

All the victims are probably ragpickers. The deceased have been identified as Tasleem (in his 40s), Balu Shami (30), Amit (12), Sumit (7) and Babu (5), and the injured are Jannat and his mother Mylo, said Ambala superintendent of police Abhishek Jorwal.
