Ambala: Youth drowns in Amri river while crossing bridge

AMBALA: A 20-year-old youth of Sambalkha village in Ambala district drowned in Amri river under limits of Saha police station on Monday evening. Three residents of Sambalkha village were passing Amri River through a down bridge when suddenly Rohit was washed away due to the instant flow of water due to heavy rain told Ambala police.



The deceased has been identified as Rohit (20) who was learning mechanical work at a shop, and he is survived by his father Om Prakash , mother and a sister.

The down bridge is situated on Sambhalka-Kardhan village road and the seasonal Amri River falls into the Markanda River.

The police continued the search operation whole night and found his dead body on Tuesday afternoon.

“In the evening, Rohit along with two other villagers was passing the seasonal Amri River on his feet when the sudden flow of water washed him away. The other two raised the alarm and intimated the police but they could not save Rohit as he disappeared in the muddy waters”, told the investigation officer.

“The police rescue teams searched for Rohit since Monday evening but could not find him in the dark. His dead body was rescued on Tuesday afternoon at some distance in the river and has been handed over to family members after post-mortem as per proceedings of Section 174 (unnatural death) of the CrPC”, told sub-inspector Chander Bhan, SHO Saha.
