Amravati residents seek turn on national highway

PANCHKULA: Amravati residents have demanded a separate turn on the national highway (NH) towards their area where a large number of residents live. The residents have also demanded relief from crushers' working day and night in and around the area. They have also demanded better public transport service.

The residents said due to caved-in road on the Shimla Kalka expressway last year, it caused a lot of problem to the residents of Amravati Enclave and those living in DLF Valley. Sangeeta Chauhan, a resident of Amravati Enclave, said: "There is only one way of connectivity with the highway due to which residents of Amravati Enclave faced a lot of inconvenience." Surinder Bhatti, a resident of Amravati Enclave, said: "We have to drive a km more to take a U-turn for Amravati Enclave if we are coming from Panchkula. If anyone wants to go towards Pinjore, Kalka and Himachal Pradesh, the only U-turn is from the Chandimandir toll plaza."

A few people risk their lives by driving on the opposite side of the road to avoid the extra km, which is risky and has also caused accidents in the past.
