Amritsar defeats Ludh to secure baseball c'ship title

Ludhiana: The baseball team of Amritsar scored a convincing win over Ludhiana in a low-scoring match of 1-0, securing the title of 15th Senior State Baseball Championship, which concluded on Sunday at Shahi Sports College of Physical Education, Samrala. A total of 15 district teams from all across the state took part in the state championship, which was organised by the State Baseball Association members.



Earlier, in the knockout round matches of the tournament, Ludhiana defeated Barnala 2-0, and entered the final round matches. On the other hand, Amritsar defeated Patiala 1-0 to lock horns with Ludhiana in the final match of the tournament, which was held on Sunday. In the match, Amritsar gave a tough fight to Ludhiana and secured the winning title with a score of 1-0 here in the city.

Harbir Singh Gill, member of Punjab Baseball Association, said “Around 90 to 110 baseball enthusiasts across the state featured in the 15th Senior State Baseball Championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Samrala Sports College here.

Punjab Baseball Association members have lauded the efforts of the participating team, as they all performed quite well on the opening day of the tournament and during the final matches which were held on Sunday.

Some among the winners would be selected for the forthcoming National Baseball Championship to be held in the middle of November.
