Andhra Pradesh Covid-19 cases cross 1.7 lakh, toll tops 1,600

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh reported 9,747 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the cumulative caseload to 1,76,333. The death toll increased to 1,604 as 67 more patients succumbed to the virus. About 6,950 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. There are currently 79,104 active cases with 95,625 cumulative recoveries and 1,604 deaths.

East Godavari reported 1,371 new Covid cases, followed by Anantapur (1,325), Kurnool (1,016), and Guntur (940). Among the 67 deceased, 12 are from Guntur, nine from Krishna, eight from Kurnool, seven each from Chittoor, East Godavari and Nellore, six each from Anantapur and Srikakulam, two from Visakhapatnam, and one each from Prakasam, Vizianagaram and West Godavari districts.

The state’s recovery rate, after the fresh discharges, is now 54.23%, which is below the national average recovery rate of 66.31%.
