Andhra Pradesh elections: Mayawati to campaign for Janasena alliance in April

VIJAYAWADA: BSP president Mayawati will campaign for the Jana Sena-BSP-Left alliance on April 3 and 4 in the two Telugu States.

During her visit to Andhra Pradesh , Mayawati will address election meetings at Amalapuram in East Godavari district and Tirupati in Chittoor district.

She will also address a campaign meeting in Hyderabad.

In Andhra Pradesh, BSP is contesting three Parliament and 21 assembly constituencies in alliance with Jana Sena and the Left. Apart from Bapatla in Guntur district, BSP will contest Chittoor and Tirupati (all SC seats) Parliament seats.

BSP is yet to identify the 21 constituencies it would be contesting for the AP assembly.

BSP Rajya Sabha MP Veer Singh is in Vijayawada to coordinate alliance issues with the Jana Sena leadership. He is expected to stay back in AP till the elections are completed and would monitor the tour schedule of Mayawati.

Veer Singh praised Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan for forging an alliance between the two parties. He expressed confidence that both Jana Sena and BSP would benefit from the alliance. He said like Jana Sena, several other parties were supporting the candidature of Mayawati for the post of prime minister after the elections.

“As the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led UPA are likely to fall short of the majority in the Lok Sabha, BSP would play a key role in the formation of the next government at the Centre,” Veer Singh said.
